Infrastructure Security Month 2020

Detecting and deterring threats is paramount to the successful operation of our transportation systems, utilities, and other critical infrastructure sectors. To raise awareness on this issue, the federal Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency has launched the National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month, for November.

Infrastructure Security Month has two themes: security and response during a global pandemic, and the future of securing critical infrastructure. Evolving health and safety risks must be met with more comprehensive solutions that address needs across use cases. Today, total solutions for critical infrastructure should account for an array of risks such as security breaches, infectious diseases, asset failure, and environmental hazards.

FLIR provides total solutions for critical infrastructure, empowering customers to be more equipped to operate during a pandemic as well as increase their overall security, workforce safety, and asset resiliency.

Protecting the Front Line with Elevated Skin Temperature Screening

FLIR has been on the forefront of supplying essential businesses with non-contact elevated skin temperature screening cameras during the COVID-19 pandemic. These radiometric thermal cameras have 19 years of deployment experience for previous epidemics, and have been widely deployed across industries. Incheon International Airport Corporation in South Korea recently installed FLIR EST™ cameras at departure entrances, departure lounges and boarding gates. General Motors deployed FLIR cameras across 72 plants. The U.S. Department of Defense set up the FLIR EST screening system at its Pentagon Visitor Center.

From Perimeter Protection to Critical Asset Monitoring

These cameras are just one facet of the FLIR critical infrastructure portfolio. For perimeter security and mitigating exterior risks, FLIR offers thermal and visible security cameras that entities like San Jose International Airport have relied on to safeguard its six-mile perimeter.

Companies like Sensei Solutions have used FLIR automation cameras to identify overheating utility assets - avoiding costly shutdown. Advances in portable thermal cameras have streamlined building diagnostics and predictive maintenance. FLIR optical gas imaging cameras and CleanConnect.ai work together to develop a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
